We believe in honesty over hype. This page tells you when Rakomi is not the right choice — and who to use instead.

Who should use what?

❓ You have no EU users and GDPR compliance is not a requirement

Rakomi's primary value proposition is EU data residency and GDPR-by-design. If you don't need this, you're paying for infrastructure that doesn't benefit you.

👉 Recommendation: Clerk — polished DX, US-based, generous free tier, excellent Next.js integration.

❓ You need enterprise auth at scale — 10K+ MAU, complex SSO, SAML, SCIM, active directory

Rakomi is built for developer-led, mid-market SaaS. We don't have enterprise SSO or SCIM today. Don't wait for us if you need them now.

👉 Recommendation: Auth0 (Okta) — industry standard for enterprise, strong SSO and compliance tooling.

❓ You only need social login (Google / GitHub / Facebook) — no password auth, no multi-tenant

If social OAuth is all you need, Rakomi's multi-tenant architecture and GDPR overhead may be unnecessary complexity.

👉 Recommendation: Firebase Auth — dead simple social login, generous free tier, zero infrastructure.

❓ You're running a legacy PHP or monolithic stack that session-cookies rather than JWTs

Rakomi's SDK is Node.js / ESM-first, designed for modern JWT-based API authentication. A legacy stack migration is a significant investment.

👉 Consider: Laravel Sanctum or Keycloak — self-hosted, language-agnostic, proven at scale.

When Rakomi is the right choice

✅ You're building B2B SaaS and EU enterprise customers ask "where is my data?"
✅ Your prospects demand a signed DPA before procurement — we send one the same day
✅ You want Frankfurt data residency, auditable logs, and GDPR Art. 30 records without building it yourself
✅ You're a solo founder or small team — free up to 5K MAU, no credit card
✅ You want an honest vendor that admits its limitations and will refer you to competitors when appropriate
✅ Your stack is Node.js / TypeScript / Next.js / Astro — our SDK is ESM-first with zero transitive deps
